Fred Williams

Fred Williams is the Assistant Area Director for Graduate and Faculty Ministries in the Blue Ridge Region (NC, SC and VA). Prior to this role, he worked with the Undergraduate Black Campus Ministry for 23 years.

Fred grew up in rural Harnett County, NC and attended Shaw University where he was discipled through InterVarsity, eventually becoming Chapter President.

He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management & Economics from Shaw University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from North Carolina State University.  He currently serves as Associate Minister and Advisor to the College Ministry at Mount Peace Baptist Church. He and his wife, Rev. JoAnne Williams Coordinate the Marriage Ministry.

He has a real burden to see African American men and women discover and move into the purpose for which God has created them. He has developed this burden over 39 years of outreach through neighborhood evangelism, prison ministry, workplace bible studies, one on one discipleship, campus ministry and Pastoral ministry.   He and his wife Rev. JoAnne M. Williams have written numerous newspaper columns and books including a book entitled The Black Man's Toolkit: A Motivational Book for Black Men. He developed and leads a mentoring group called Men of Wisdom at Shaw University.

Fred resides with his wife, JoAnne in Raleigh, NC. They have one adult son and three amazing grandchildren! Fred is an avid gardener and finds his garden to be place of great joy and solace.
